— An Expression of Human Dignity: Inauguration of Vishwa Sahani’s Exhibition by a Class IV Employee
Mumbai | On October 14, 2025, renowned artist Vishwa Sahani inaugurated his solo exhibition “Displacement” in a truly unique way.
Manju Ramesh Chauhan, a Class IV employee at the Jehangir Art Gallery, inaugurated the exhibition.
In the history of the Jehangir Art Gallery, it is rare for an exhibition to be inaugurated by a staff member. This gesture itself reflects Sahani’s humanitarian outlook and his deep sense of equality.
Speaking emotionally at the inauguration, Sahani said —
“Every person deserves respect in life. Whatever work they do — small or big, rich or poor — every human being is equal as a human. As long as we measure a person’s worth based on caste, status, or wealth, true humanity will remain out of reach.”
Through this act, Sahani did not merely express an idea — he brought to life the essence of treating every human being with equal dignity.
This very sentiment echoes through his paintings as well. While exploring themes of displacement, separation, and memory, Sahani’s canvases capture the pain, loss, and warmth of human connection.
Art critic Rakhee Aradkar commented —
“Vishwa Sahani’s artworks explore the mysterious intersection of separation, migration, and memory. Through layers of inherent pain and vulnerability, he reveals the resilience and strength of human relationships.”
Each painting in the exhibition tells a story — of identity, migration, and the inner struggle of human existence.
Yet, at the heart of all these narratives lies one unifying emotion — respect for humanity.
“Displacement” is not merely a celebration of form and color; it is a deep dialogue about human values —where the artist stands not just as a painter, but as the conscience of society.
